EEA/EU and Swiss National Family Member – Austria

Hassle-free visa processing for your travel needs.

Overview

Non-Austrian EEA/EU and Swiss national family members who wish to travel to Austria can apply for a Schengen Family Member Visa. This visa allows spouses, registered partners, and dependent children of non-Austrian EEA/EU or Swiss citizens to visit Austria under a simplified visa process.

  • If travelling together with a non-Austrian EEA/EU or Swiss family member, applicants are exempt from visa fees and require fewer supporting documents.
  • If travelling alone, applicants must apply for a regular Schengen visa and follow the standard visa requirements, including paying the applicable visa fee.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria to apply for an Austria EEA/EU and Swiss National Family Member Visa:

  • Hold a valid passport or travel document.
  • Possess a valid UK residency permit. Short-stay C-type UK visas are not accepted.
  • Be a spouse, registered partner, or child of a non-Austrian EEA/EU or Swiss national.
  • Must travel together with the EEA/EU or Swiss family member to be eligible for the simplified visa process.

Processing Time

Visa applications are generally processed within 10 working days from the date the Embassy or Consulate receives the complete application. Processing times may be extended if additional scrutiny is required.

During peak seasons, processing times may increase. Applicants are advised to submit their visa applications at least two weeks before their travel date, or earlier during peak periods.

Your Visa, Our Priority – With our express appointment scheduling and expert guidance, your visa process is handled with ease.
